Power Electronics Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support in the area of design, analysis, and testing of spacecraft power electronics and DC-DC power converters 0.5W to 5kW.
  • Participate in system and sub-system level design trades and develop requirements.
  • Support electrical power system verification testing and analysis.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams of design, test, and production engineers to create new electrical power system components.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in electrical engineering.  
  • Familiarity with DC-DC power converter design and development.  Candidate should have experience building a switching power supply from scratch.
  • Knowledge of fundamental power converter topologies.
  • Experience with magnetics analysis and selection.
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, and testing of power electronics.
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC compatibility.
  • Passion for hardware simulation and development.  Must be a hands-on engineer and excited to work in a fast paced environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering
  • Familiarity with spacecraft electrical power systems and knowledge of radiation effects. 
  • Power supply testing and packaging for harsh environments.
