Thermal Analysis Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate thermal, structural performance of components and systems for Crew Dragon and Falcon Heavy.
  • Design and optimize ducting for air circulation inside the vehicles.
  • Use FEM software a finite difference methods (SINDA, thermal desktop) to perform the thermal and structural analysis.
  • Define the Thermal Protection System for both vehicles.
  • Perform aerothermal analysis for both vehicles.
  • Support thermal and structural testing of components by developing test setups, write procedure and analyze results
  • Be able to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • MS degree is required in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with thermal modelling

 
Preferred Skills:              

  • 2-5 years of experience preferred in related discipline.
  • Experience with Unigraphics NX v. 6 or later
  • A demonstrated ability to read drawings and to generate them
  • Familiarity with Solid Modeling Software
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience. A demonstrated background where quick-thinking and problem solving plays a critical role.

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
