About Poncho

Poncho is a weather-forecasting service built inside the betaworks studio. We want to make weather forecasts not only accurate, but also personal. If you have never used Poncho before, give it a shot. We can’t imagine life without it.

To really understand the personality and story behind Poncho, you should probably watch our founder Kuan Huang on MSNBC.

What we’re looking for

Our very first full time backend engineer, to help us build out the go-to weather service for the mobile generation. You should:

  • be really, really smart.
  • have a great sense of humor and a fondness for pop culture, gifs, and memes.
  • be comfortable in an intense, loosely structured, and fast-paced startup.
  • have 1-3 years of experience with Python, Django, AWS, and MongoDB.
  • ideally be familiar with Backbone, Grunt, and other front-end technologies.

You don’t have to be a weather nerd (none of us has an academic background in meteorology), but you should be as excited as we are about taking huge amounts of data and turning it into friendly, hilarious, useful pieces of information. (On that note, you’ll also get to work with the betaworks data science team, which is a treat in itself.)
