Flight Safety Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering expertise in the area of design, development and test avionics hardware used in the Falcon Flight Termination System (FTS)
- Duties include subsystem design and prototyping, schematic capture, prototype bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, functional verification and signal characterization. In addition, support through production and test is expected.
- Designs and maintains assembly level test programs to support production
- Supports launch site integration of FTS systems and test flights
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent area of focus.
- Candidates must have at least 3 years of combined project experience in the aerospace or electrical engineer field; significant applied research projects, internships, and traditional professional experience all qualify
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Masters of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent area of focus
- Experience with orbital dynamics and/or Guidance, Navigation and Controls
- Experience with embedded computing system design
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel up to 15% of the time in support of launch and test activities
- Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight
- Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding start-up atmosphere
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
