Tooling Fabrication Planner
Overview:
Apply basic knowledge of processes and materials to provide reliable and actionable manufacturing plans for assigned production projects. Truly own assigned jobs from RFP creation to work complete and customer satisfied. Work hand in hand with internal and external parties to get our work done as quickly and creatively as possible while still living within the bounds of a production mindset. Recognize opportunities to create value within our growing department and seize them as efficiently as possible while working to achieve buy-in.
Responsibilities:
- Receive technical documents from Engineering and Manufacturing to create, revise, and maintain planning documents to produce parts and components which conform to design configuration and specifications.
- Work with Tool designers and senior Planners and Engineers to optimize manufacturability.
- Provide project management to ensure work plan execution, beginning from releasing work orders through delivery to customer.
- Create plans to meet departmental metrics of 100% right first time, and on-time delivery to customer.
- Request raw materials and hardware from purchasing directly from blue prints as applicable. Work with purchasing to release purchase orders for outside services and fully outsourced work.
- Interface with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Procurement in resolving any hold factors inhibiting the release of plans and completion of parts.
- Work with shop personnel to ensure work instructions are accurate and comprehensible. Resolve discrepancies arising from incorrect paperwork or other related problems
- Provide pro-active and professional communication with customers on part status, schedule and technical issues.
- Provide weekly updates to management on on-time delivery, work load and task assignments. Work with management to assist in resolving problems and developing methods and techniques for assured department capability.
- Assist when necessary with new and innovative Tooling Fabrication processes. Help create, use and maintain team standards and best practices for Planning. Effectively use support groups to resolve constraints or problems. Support Tooling Fabrication team to meet overall team goals.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3 months of work experience in a planning capacity within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or related field strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with metallic machining and assembly processes.
- 1 year of experience with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Project, Powerpoint and Outlook.
- Experience reading and working with Blueprints.
- Ability to utilize CAD models is a plus.
- Experience in a dynamic automotive or aviation manufacturing industry is a plus.
- Strong prioritization skills, and, analytical, computer, and written skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be available for all hours and any overtime, as necessary.
- Must be available for a rotating Saturday shift.
- Ability to work under deadlines, in a high paced work environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and absorb technical content.
- Ability to take initiative when organizing, communicating and completing tasks to a very demanding timeline.
