LEAD TIG Welder
Overview
Applicant being considered will be responsible for overseeing all Octaweb Welding Operations reporting directly to the area Supervisor and Manager. Also, they will work directly with planning and engineering to ensure all parts are being delivered on time and meeting the company’s target build rates for each area. This person will also be the direct link between the staff and the engineering team for process changes and improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Welding assembly and fabrication on various medium to large scale structures and assemblies.
- Oversee day to day team needs (i.e. parts, tools, consumables)
- Monitor and implement area safety requirements and improvements
- Train personnel on proper procedures and develop skills of team members.
- Set and accomplish daily production goals in accordance with overall department delivery goals.
- Effectively communicate with engineering staff and planners to achieve build efficiency.
- Identify and task team members appropriately to their skill level.
- Modification, repair, assembly, and installation of the rocket and spacecraft.
- Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
- 5 or more years of experience with TIG welding.
- Must have experience welding Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Inconel, Aluminum and Titanium.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in Plasma Cutting as well as Oxyacetylene cutting.
- Must pass visual before being X-rayed or dye pinned
- Experience with AWS D17.1 and D1.2 preferred.
- Experience in overhead cranes & Forklifts preferred.
- High-volume manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Must have experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Proficient with MS Powerpoint, MS Project
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work 1st Shift (5:00am-3:30pm) or 2nd Shift (3:30pm-2:00am)
- Must be able to work overtime hours and weekends, as needed.
- Must be able to lift a min. of 25 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to travel to different sites, as needed.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours min.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces.

- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
