Supplier Performance Specialist
One of the most critical needs we now have at SpaceX is for Supply Chain Specialists. With two vehicles flight proven, we have a $3 billion backlog of sold flights. The next critical phase is proving our ability to build rockets with increasing speed while maintaining quality in order to meet the markets high demand. We are looking to add Supply Chain Specialists throughout the company.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with Suppliers on open purchase orders.
- Responsible to coordinate with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Inventory, Manufacturing and Procurement in resolving any hold factors inhibiting meeting Supplier commitments on open purchase orders.
- Provides status and estimated commitment dates of parts and or material from Suppliers, Process Houses and Sub-Tiers to the Supplier as necessary to support supplier delivery schedules.
- Reviews shortages daily and is responsible for the follow up of part status to ensure Supplier delivery dates are met and processed through Receiving, Inspection and into Inventory.
- Partners with buyers to maintain up to date supplier promise dates communicating all change to the appropriate users.
- Updates internal ERP system with Status as required.
- Coordinate estimated completion dates for parts that are past due or behind schedule from suppliers.
- Coordinate the release of purchase orders as designated by product team/ERP.
- Effectively use internal support groups to resolve constraints at suppliers.
- Coordinate and track SpaceX supplied materials that are short on purchase orders to be delivered to suppliers.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Coordinate the continuous flow of material internal and external to meet delivery schedules.
- Develop and maintain weekly visibility on part shortages and be able to present to management/commodity teams status. Attend commodity team meetings as required.
- Ensure the closure of all purchase orders throughout the receiving process.
- Coordinate the implementation of EO revisions on open purchase orders at the suppliers when required.
- Present visibility and support weekly shortage meetings.
- Provide Accurate Data Integrity for ERP Audits/Metrics.
- Develop milestone reports for late parts and new delivery schedule.
- May be asked to manage off-site processing, as-required in support of supplier deliveries.
- Significant Travel Required. (both local and out of state).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business related field.
- A minimum of 3 years Lean manufacturing experience.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in manufacturing with machine parts and processing.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree strongly desired (preferably Business related).
- Prefer a solid understanding of DOE, GD&T, SPC or Mechanical Fabrication techniques.
- MRP/ERP Knowledge and strong Word and Excel computer skills.
- Aerospace Blueprint reading skills desired.
- Highly prefer experience with Mechanical Fabricated parts or jigs, fixtures, tooling, injection molding, plastics, ceramics, machine shop (CNC, Mills, Lathes) experience is required.
- MSME/BSME, or equivalent or MBA is a plus.
- Demonstrated success with managing a project/program to completion.
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, remarkable problem solving skills.
- Strong technical knowledge and skills in current technologies and applications, especially MS Office Suite.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to meet all travel requirements (50-70% travel required).
- Position requires long hours and some nights and weekends.
