Thermal Control Systems Development Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Develop fluid component performance requirements and design requirements
  • Create test plans, analyze test data
  • Perform component-level and system-level development tests to resolve hardware issues
  • Make development decisions based on cost and schedule considerations
  • Communicate results verbally and through written reports.
  • Work with analysts and design engineers to develop/optimize thermal fluid systems functionality and performance to meet the requirements of the system
  • Work with manufacturing and process engineers to develop/optimize thermal fluid systems assembly and installation
  • Work with avionics and software engineers to develop thermal fluid systems interfaces that control thermal fluid systems functions

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or MS (preferred) in Mechanical Engineer, Aero/Astro Engineering, System Engineering or related disciplines is required
  • Familiarity with development and testing of fluid components such as pumps and valves
  • Proficient in the basic principles of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer
  • Familiarity with materials used in spacecraft fluid systems

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with LabView data acquisition systems
  • Familiarity with Unigraphics NX7
  • Familiarity with orbital tube welding
  • Skilled in Excel and/or Matlab
  • Must be self-motivated with strong organizational and written & oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work well in an integrated team including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
