The TechOps Core Infrastructure team is responsible for managing and automating the hosting platform in Box production data centers, including server provisioning, operating systems, configuration management, monitoring, directory services, and virtualization. As an Operations Engineer, your role will be to troubleshoot problems, handle day-to-day support requests from other TechOps teams which depend on our platform, and automate procedures to improve efficiency and consistency. This role is ideal for an ambitious systems administrator who aspires to become either an automation developer or senior operations engineer.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Knowledge of Linux system administration using command-line tools.
    • Ability to apply scientific method to troubleshooting computer problems.
    • Familiarity with common Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP.
    • Ability to write basic automation scripts in Bash or Python.
    • Team player with desire to support others. 
    •  This is a support role!
    • 1+ years experience in an IT operations role.
    • Completion of a 4 year degree.

GOOD TO HAVE

    • Experience with automated configuration management systems (we use Puppet).
    • Experience using version control systems (we use Git).
    • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, or Scientific Linux.
    • Knowledge of datacenter server hardware and RAID controllers.
