Technical Product Manager
Box is looking for a technical product manager to work with teams across the company and develop innovative core technologies that power user experiences for all Box products. The PM in this role will be critical to aligning technology innovations with customer needs. To be successful in this role, you must possess a blend of business and technical savvy; the ability to establish a big-picture vision as well as the attention to detail to help deliver high-quality features and enhancements on a tight timeline. You must enjoy spending time with Box's customers, sales and support teams to understand user issues, communicate timelines and deliver solutions. The ideal candidate is someone who has worked in technology, perhaps as an engineer, technical lead, or project manager who also has experience and an aptitude for product management.
Responsibilities
- Define product and feature requirements and priorities based on customer feedback and inputs from various stakeholders like Engineering, Customer Experience, Operations, Legal and Accounting.
- Work across multiple engineering teams to align goals and deliver results.
- Own a roadmap and backlog prioritization, driving for necessary innovations in support of team and company goals.
- Work closely with development and tech ops teams on new technologies and technical innovations.
- Understand and communicate needs of the company and our customers to all stakeholders.
- Collect and measure key product metrics to inform success/failure of each release, and plan iterations accordingly.
- Evaluate external technologies for consideration vs. building internally.
- Communicate frequently and effectively with stakeholders on priorities and progress.
Requirements
- BS/CS or equivalent degree plus 5 or more years related experience in Technical Product Management. MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Open and engaging collaboration style. High level of energy and initiative. Encourages feedback. Ability to lead virtual team efforts, partner across organizational boundaries and influence development directions.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrated ability to take abstract technical and business concepts and drive them into concrete and agreed-to specific requirements
- Able to articulate technical issues and clearly evaluate business risk
- Deep knowledge and product management experience in cloud/XaaS architectures/offers, or web / web-services-based applications.
- Excellent understanding of global service provider data center and cloud market drivers and requirements
- Understanding of the unique requirements for Enterprise and Commercial customer use of private cloud, hybrid cloud, and public cloud
- Understanding of compute, storage, and data center networking technologies and emerging trends in cloud computing, storage and networking
- Experience with cloud and virtualization technologies such as AWS, OpenStack, KVM, MySQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, Hadoop, etc.
- Experience with product performance monitoring and optimization
