CNC Machining Supervisor (2nd Shift)

 

Overview:

SpaceX is looking for an experienced CNC Machining Supervisor for 2nd Shift (3:30pm- 2:00am) to oversee and enforce policies (safety, quality, process procedures), set-up, troubleshoot and maintain CNC machining and robotic equipment. This individual will direct multiple production phases and must ensure production goals are met (schedule, quality, cost) at the SpaceX engineering and production facility located in Hawthorne. Candidate must possess leadership skills, strong knowledge of CNC machining, and extensive experience working in a fast paced environment, as well as managing schedules and workflow.


Responsibilities:

  • Assign and complete work based on production schedule.
  • Capacity planning and personnel training and development (including personnel reviews).
  • Production risk identification and mitigation.
  • Document non-conformances and associated rework and follow through the entire process until closed.
  • Implement corrective action plans.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and other departments to minimize production interruptions.
  • Develop and implement efficiency improvement measures.
  • Maintain tooling and consumable supply inventory.
  • Read, interpret and work from free form drawings as well as from controlled documentation and processes.
  • Independently perform verifications and document results in a clear, precise and complete manner.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years in CNC Machining practices.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role required.
  • Safety training and/or safety certifications required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with MS Office and shop floor management software (ERP).


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. degree within an Engineering discipline preferred.
  • Using computer to record work performed on shop floor management system (ERP) as well as use email.
  • Demonstrate experience and ability to read, interpret and follow:
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering and Production teams.
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing principles, and efficiency methods.

Schematics: Engineering drawings, circuit layouts, layout drawings, and

parts list.

Mechanical Assembly: Mechanical drawings and parts list.


Additional Requirements:

  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and demonstrate a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to distinguish color is required.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs., lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
  • Ability to travel for short and long distances as needed.
  • Must be open to working all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends, as needed.
