Propulsion Structural Analyst (Dragon Systems)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The candidate will work with Propulsion Engineers to develop Cargo Dragon, the US delivery spacecraft to the International Space Station, and Crew Dragon, the world’s most advanced manned capsule
  • Assist in the organization and enhancement of integrated system models
  • Assist Senior Analysts with completion of large analysis projects
  • Review propulsion analyses across the entire vehicle

 This role has significant growth potential as our company continues to grow at a brisk pace.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MS in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study, with a cumulative GPA > 3.5/4.0
  • Statics and Mechanics of Materials Experience
  • Able to perform Free Body Diagrams & Rapid Hand Calculations
  • Professional or project experience using Finite Element Analysis

  PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience on large engineering projects is a big plus
  • A good understanding of fatigue, fracture, and crack propagation
  • Background in non-linear stress analysis with plasticity modeling
  • Experience with coupled thermal-structural analysis a plus
  • Familiarity with commercial FEA tools: Nastran, Abaqus, or ANSYS Mechanica
  • Oral and written communication
  • Ability to deliver against an aggressive schedule

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
