Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Design and analysis of Guidance, Navigation and Control algorithms
- Development of 6-DOF launch vehicle and spacecraft dynamics simulators using C++
- First principles derived analysis of launch vehicle and spacecraft systems
- Software verification via testing with flight-software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop
- Mission design and mission sequencing including fault management and contingency operations
- Sensor development, integration, analysis, and test
- Launch and mission operations support
Basic Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Aero/Astro, Mechanical, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or similar area of focus
- Candidates must have a strong understanding of classical dynamics, orbital mechanics, modeling and simulation, and the software languages C++ and Python
- Demonstrated project or professional experience in launch vehicle and/or spacecraft systems
- Expertise in the field of flexible body control, filtering, trajectory optimization, aerodynamics, rendezvous and proximity operations, atmospheric entry, propulsive landing, fault management, software development, inertial, optical, ranging and GPS sensor systems
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have at least a few years of relevant professional work experience in Launch Vehicles or Spacecraft Systems
- Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
- Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight
- Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding start-up atmosphere
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Additional Requirements:
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
