About the job:
- Twilio is growing exponentially and we are looking for someone to help automate and support our cloud-based infrastructure across multi regions/datacenters.
- We are looking for a systems engineer who is interested in building the next generation of cloud platform systems to support global distribution, High Availability (HA) and scalability.
- You will receive exposure to the unique set of challenges that come from scaling a global service that has to run at 100% availability.
- Automation is key to almost everything we do at Twilio. We are looking for a leading "automation" mind.
Responsibilities:
- Work on Twilio's global cloud infrastructure with the SDK Engineering Team.
- Help design, develop and deploy secure cloud infrastructure for High Availability (HA), Low Latency and Scalability across global data centers.
- Build awesome automation tools to help us run and scale our global-infrastructure.
- Participate in on-call rotations and work with the SDK Engineering Team to identify, resolve and triage production issues.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality, reliability and availability of our infrastructure.
Requirements:
- You are proficient in Linux systems administration and understand all layers of Linux.
- You have in-depth experience deploying and maintaining monitoring tools (Nagios, Cacti, etc.).
- You are experienced in configuring network routing (NAT, TCP/IP), firewalls, VPN and DNS.
- You know what is involved in deploying and managing Redis or another equal technology.
- You are a scripting guru; shell, python it's all the same to you!
- You are familiar with deployment tools like Chef, Puppet, or rolled your own.
- You understand OS-level virtualization well. You have setup and managed virtualized production environments.
- You have some familiarity with AWS and/or other cloud environments.
Bonus points:
- AWS experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Contributed to Open Source Software.
