What are we looking for in new grad talent?
When hiring new grads at SpaceX, we look for students who have a solid academic record paired with hands on engineering experience. Many of our new grads have been integral members of competition teams such as Formula SAE, Robotics Clubs, and other application based engineering projects. Successful candidate have many times also held internships at top companies, led in class projects, worked in campus labs, or have demonstrated success in other inventive ventures. It is this type of hands-on experience that sets our new grads apart and allows them to make an immediate impact. A common thread among all the candidates we hire is their ability to innovate, the desire to bring excellence to everything they do, and a drive to never give up until the job is done.
What happens after you apply?
At SpaceX, we accept applications to general categories for our new grad positions as oppose to having students apply for a specific job. This allows us to identify top talent quickly and figure out the best place for them in the organization based on the student’s interest, experience, and current needs of the company. We ask that you please only submit one application total to SpaceX’s New Graduate section into whichever category best matches your educational/engineering focus. When applying, we highly encourage you to upload additional documents that show us just how great you really are. Videos, presentations, and pictures detailing your projects and experience are all strongly encouraged.
As needs arise, we will contact you if your background and experience are a fit for what we are looking for. Due to the large amount of applications we receive, we are not able to respond back to every person that applies unfortunately. If a position opens up now or 6 months from now that you are a good match for, we will contact you at that time.
If you have not received a call within a 6-12 month window and you have acquired additional experience that you’d like to make sure is evaluated, please feel free to revise your resume and upload a new version every year.
SpaceX visits many campuses for career fairs and tech talks throughout the year, attending these events will give you access to a recruiter who can give you more personalized advice for making your job search as successful as possible.
