Platform Engineer - Moz - Job Board

About The Position

At Moz, we’re changing the way the world thinks about inbound marketing and we are looking for talented engineers to join the infrastructure team and help us take it to the next level. Moz’s infrastructure team develops all distributed and big data systems and applications to efficiently run Moz’s inbound marketing, data management, and analytics platforms. 

As an engineer on the infrastructure team, you will contribute directly to our efforts in designing and implementing the critical distributed systems infrastructure that will support our current and future products.

Responsibilities:

  • Help define the vision of our next generation platform architecture.
  • Collaborate in the design and building of our next-generation service oriented architecture stack that will power all services in our ecosystem.
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of our next-generation machine learning systems.
  • Design and implement features evolving our inbound marketing and local product offerings.
  • Scale up and tune our indexing systems. Challenges come in the form of concurrency, data scale, and computational efficiency.
  • Develop instrumentation/profiling tools and systems.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience developing system software or backend services
  • Thorough understanding of core Computer Science fundamentals including Algorithms, Data Structures, Distributed Systems & Networking, Operating Systems.
  • Strong programming skills in a major language.
  • Self-motivated, quick-learner, team-player that possesses great communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience.
  • MS/PhD in a systems related sub discipline.
  • Hands-on development experience building distributed, Internet-scale systems, building and applying frameworks for caching, queuing, RPC, parallelism, and distributed data storage.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems, systems like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, NoSQL stores like HBase, etc is desirable. Experience with Apache Mesos is a big plus.
  • Published work in academic conferences or industry circles.
