Supervisor - Master Scheduling
Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Production Control, the Supervisor - Master Scheduling will be responsible for the creation and status monitoring of the top level production schedule at Hawthorne for all production at SpaceX. This primarily includes control of the Master Schedulers to create a capable and transparent schedule using tools yet to be developed. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the continued growth of our business.
The Supervisor - Master Scheduling will lead, manage and motivate the Master Scheduling team. You will ensure all Master Schedule planning targets are met across the business and liaise with Production Teams to identify any potential production delays, formulating and taking any mitigating actions. You will also liaise and provide active reporting to all other Production Teams to ensure any tactical actions are clearly synchronized across the factory.
As an experienced leader, you will ideally have the relevant experience of a large manufacturing or logistics facility, with proven experience of detailed scheduling in a challenging manufacturing operation. Previous experience of dealing with design engineering and R&D operations would be an advantage.
You will also be robust in your decision making and consistently demonstrate the professional, can-do drive required to succeed in this environment. As well as leading by example, you will inspire your teams to deliver and live the SpaceX values and company culture.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a small team of Production Schedulers covering all Dragon resource areas of at Hawthorne.
- Understand the entire production system, the processes and capabilities and ensure that the team is scheduling them effectively.
- Notify relevant parties of upcoming resource constraints and work to develop tactical actions to keep the factory on schedule.
- Ability to influence working culture on the shop floor with the Production Team, implementing best practice supply and flow processes.
- Working closely with all internal customers to get parts built on schedule.
- Facilitating the production of flight-qualified structural hardware on time and within budget through robust control of the parts flow.
- Driving the development of production supply procedures/processes in conjunction with Process Engineering, Supply Chain and our WarpDrive development team (EIS).
- To drive process stabilization and improvement through the supply processes with innovative process solutions.
- Resolving supply discrepancies and determining true root cause through to solution implementation.
- Process metric development to demonstrate process stability and process improvement.
- Positively impacting and improving every aspect of life at SpaceX through motivational leadership to drive the business forwards.
- Leading process improvement workshops utilizing PFMEA tools.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Logistics or Scheduling discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong record of achievement.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role, leading to a medium to large in a demanding and complex organization.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering and Production.
- Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment.
- Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Able to travel short and/or extended trips as needed.
