Infrastructure Engineer
MailChimp is seeking Infrastructure Engineers to join our Ops team. You’ll help build, maintain, and monitor systems that support millions of users across all of our products. We operate in a high-volume environment, handling over 5,000 requests/second and 10,000 new users/day.
Applicants should have strong Linux experience, independent troubleshooting skills, and a love for automation, monitoring, and configuration management. We don't expect you to have used every tool we use, but a solid conceptual understanding is necessary.
You've got experience with:
- Linux (CentOS)
- DNS (BIND, Unbound)
- Networking and TCP/IP (Cisco)
- Writing code (Python, Bash)
- Web apps (Apache, Nginx, PHP)
- Relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Configuration Management (Puppet)
- Monitoring and Alerting (Zabbix)
Bonus if you:
- Have worked in a large environment with hundreds or thousands of servers
- Managed advanced MySQL setups (sharding, replication)
- Worked with other data systems (Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka)
- Maintained CDN configuration for a high-traffic website (Akamai)
- Are familiar with continuous integration/delivery (Jenkins)
- Built or maintained virtual machine infrastructure (OpenStack, KVM, Docker, Ceph)
