Senior Software Engineer, Rails | Centro

Description

ABOUT THE PRODUCT AND ENGINEERING TEAM

Centro is building the world’s most respected product and engineering organization.  This is a bold claim, and one we do not make lightly.  Of course, we can back it up:  Ad Tech is one of the hottest technology sectors today, with the worlds most distinguished product and engineering organizations vying to be the first to truly and forever disrupt a $200 billion industry.

Of course, delivering technology that changes the way an industry does business requires a massive product, design, and engineering effort.  To do our heavy lifting, we attract talent from an array of disciplines to work in highly-collaborative, agile, cross-functional teams.   Together we tackle the complexity of scale that comes from performing 30 billion transactions per day. We innovate with machine learning and Big Data solutions to deliver optimized campaign performance and recommendations. We create elegant user interfaces that unite all the functions of our platform into one, seamless, intuitive, and delightful experience.

Together, we are winning advertising tech, will you join us?

ABOUT THE ROLE

Centro's technology team is building web applications for streamlining digital media planning.  Come design and develop great software with us in an agile environment and make life better for all of our friends in the advertising industry. Our customers live in our apps eight hours a day, planning and executing complex advertising campaigns. We’re looking for someone with experience developing fast, modular web applications in a collaborative team environment to be the newest member of our growing band of talented engineers, product managers and designers.

The Gig:

  • Design and develop great software. Great software doesn’t matter until someone can use it. Let's build it right, but also get it out the door.
  • Drive revenues. Our primary software product, Transis, should earn Centro a central place in the advertising industry as measured by revenue, profitability and the value provided to our customers.
  • Make life better for all of our friends in the advertising industry (yes, you're a part of the industry, too, but we know you're a technologist first). Media buying is a complex, time-consuming and frequently confounding job. Our software can make life better for media planners. Once we’re done, we should never need to pay for a drink at any ad industry event.
  • Serve as a role model. A high-quality Transis helps establish the value of well-built software for other start-ups and companies. Learn how to build great software well and share what we know.

You’re right for this job if:

  • You're comfortable developing advanced web applications using Ruby on Rails, HTML/CSS and Javascript
  • You understand relational databases, and also know a thing or two about document stores (and would like to learn more)
  •  You work to build and maintain software with the highest standards of software craftsmanship
  • You believe in agile methodologies, including TDD, pairing, CI, and collective code ownership
  • You want to help build a culture of learning and continuous improvement on the team
  • You want to build strong business domain knowledge related to online advertising, campaign planning and execution, ad serving technologies and related topics
  • You enjoy collaborating with customers, product owners, developers and testers to solve real business problems
  • You can collaborate with Product Managers to create acceptance and integration tests
  • You can help support and improve development infrastructure including our continuous integration server and automated testing infrastructure
