About the job:
- Twilio is looking for a full time Revenue Operations Manager to join its global accounting and finance team. Working directly under the Assistant Controller, the Revenue Operations Manager will oversee updates and maintenance of the proprietary billing system.
- This role will continually interact with a cross-functional team, including engineering, product, and the Revenue Manager, to ensure the billing system is functioning as a true subledger into our accounting system. The desired candidate must be highly analytical and inquisitive with strong attention to detail.
- Further, the candidate must be able to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment that is extremely deadline driven. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Candidate must love getting 'hands on' yet also see the big picture. The ideal candidate is also a process-oriented individual who is also flexible enough to thrive in a startup setting.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the first stakeholder to the proprietary billing system.
- Ensure compliance with existing and emerging US GAAP for revenue recognition for all transactions within the billing system through partnering with the required teams.
- Assist in operational planning associated with new product offerings, the applicable revenue recognition treatment of such offerings, and how these offerings modify the data model within the billing system.
- Work to resolve sales representative inquiries regarding system billing issues.
- Continually monitor for process improvements and areas to improve the functionality of the billing system through automation.
- Work with other departments, specifically sales and legal, on financial operation trainings and process improvements.
- Monitor revenue transaction flow and key revenue/O2C metrics.
- Promote accuracy and efficiency within the O2C.
- Support the overall accounting team during the month end close process through reporting, reconciliations, and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with SOX and internal control policies and procedures around the order to cash cycle
- Increase efficiencies through process improvements and further assist with change management where applicable.
- Perform audit and tax support.
- Generate management reports and analysis, as required.
- Ad hoc accounting and business operations support as the Company rapidly expands.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Approximately 7 - 10 years of accounting experience.
- Approximately 3 - 5 years of revenue accounting experience.
- Previous startup experience.
- Passion for end-to-end O2C process and system improvements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in managing and and desire to manage team members.
- Knowledge of US GAAP.
- Knowledge of the technology and SaaS industry.
- Tech savvy – Excel guru a plus.
- Strong experience with the following software/tools:
- Google Business Apps
- Box.com/Dropbox
- NetSuite
- Strong understanding of financial and operational controls.
