Level Designer – New Mobile Game | Wooga

About the job

As Jelly Splash mania continues sweeping the globe, we here at Wooga have already begun work on a new title within the puzzle genre. The project is still in early stages of development, but a solid prototype is already resulting in hundreds of lost hours of work within Wooga.

One of the key hires early on in the project will be that of a Level Designer. In this position, you will be responsible for designing and balancing levels for the game. Eventually, you will also take on broader Game Design responsibilities, including designing new features and gameplay elements.

Who we are looking for

  • Experience as a Level Designer, ideally designing levels for puzzle games.
  • You must love puzzle games!
  • You must be obsessed with the gaming industry and be able to cast a critical eye across the genre and understand what works and does not work.
  • You should understand the free-to-play business model.
  • You should be passionate about game balancing.
  • We need you to be an excellent team player, who fits into our multi-national & über-friendly team of awesome people.
  • And last but not least you must have excellent communication skills in English.

About the job

As the Lead Artist you are part of a small team working on a new game for mobile devices. In this role, you will own the overall art direction for the game and steer the efforts of the art team. Responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and owning the art style and vision for the game.
  • Being hands-on in producing concept art which will form the basis for the game’s characters, environments, and theme.
  • Defining visual guidelines and setting up production processes for smooth day-to-day working.
  • Visual realisation of game concepts and ideas with the team.
  • Ensuring consistent style and high quality of assets by mentoring other artists on the team.

Who we are looking for

  • Prior art leadership experience in the gaming industry.
  • Able to create various graphical styles and understand their appeal to different demographics.
  • Capable of creating game art from concepts to putting in the final touches.
  • Willingness and eagerness to be hands-on in the creation of game art.
  • Advanced skills in the use of Adobe CS; knowledge of 3D tools is a plus.
  • Experience with mobile platforms is ideal.

Mobile Developer ? Automattic

Mobile Developer

Take WordPress and other Automattic projects to phones and tablets by developing Open Source mobile apps and the systems that power them. Work on future versions of WordPress, Simplenote, and other native apps for iOS and Android. The kinds of people we’re looking for have:

  • Strong programming skills in Objective-C, Java, or both, with deep knowledge of development for iOS and/or Android.
  • Substantial mobile experience developing user interfaces, low-level systems (like storage and networking), or both.
  • Experience developing and launching at least one high quality app.
  • Familiarity with backend technologies and how to interface with them. Backend development experience is a plus.
  • Opinionated about products, with good user experience instincts.

As a Mobile Software Engineer, you will be responsible for taking the Asana mobile experience to the next level. At Asana, we care deeply about creating a superlative user experience, down to those little details that matter. We also work hard to maintain a codebase and a culture that are a joy to work in. We are looking for someone with the experience to unlock the responsiveness of native applications and the desire to improve upon the way they are written. You will be combining tried and true mobile best practices with many of the innovative ideas that our in-house framework, Luna, already offers to web applications. Luna eliminates the need to write separate frontend and backend code while ensuring that every feature is immediately responsive and syncs in real-time by default.

Requirements

  • Strong CS fundamentals
  • Experience building Android and/or iOS applications
  • Sound judgment for balancing between scrappiness and long-term code maintainability
  • Knowledge of web technologies

Desirable

  • Derive joy from abstracting and refactoring
  • Extensive experience building apps for the iOS and/or the Android platform
  • Knowledge of Javascript, Python or Ruby
  • Personal projects that demonstrate your experience building mobile applications
