Fixed Asset Accountant

We're looking for an accountant who will be responsible for the accurate and timely recording of fixed assets. You are a high-energy, hands-on individual with the people skills to work with individuals across the organization. Youmust have the ability to operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

    • Maintain the fixed asset system (including asset additions, adjustments, retirements, and monthly and annual close processes), ensuring accurate and complete data for all office locations
    • Identify and resolve incorrect entries, data anomalies and exceptions
    • Collect data and perform research on details of transactions
    • Process monthly fixed asset changes and perform monthly depreciation and capital interest entries
    • Responsible for preparing and submitting county property tax assessments and payments
    • Track the compilation of CIP costs and close them out once they have been completed
    • Check for completeness and accuracy of fixed assets sub ledger
    •  Process asset disposals and movements
    • Prepare journal entries, including appropriate documentation and prepare reconciliations for fixes assets-related activity
    • Prepare or assist with various analyses and reports such as Asset Cost and Accumulated Depreciation roll forward, reconciliations (Accumulated Depreciation versus Depreciation Expense, sub-ledger to general ledger), depreciation variance analysis, and quarterly and year-end audit reports
    • Collect data, researches and contributes to variance analysis: P&L and Balance Sheet flux analysis
    • Participate in month-end close activities
    • Monitor work for proper internal controls and SOX requirements and recommend improvements
    • Review posting of automated, system-generated entries
    • Ensure that automated interfaces to the general ledger are functioning as intended
    • Identify and communicate system problems to management
    • Recommend, test and/or implement streamlined processes, system improvements and workflow changes;participate as a project team member.
    • Serve as a liaison to other departments to resolve accounting related issues.
    • Participate in departmental projects and initiatives

Qualifications and Skills

    • 4 year degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or economics
    • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
    • Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
    • Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Utilize tools such as system queries and downloads, Excel functions (pivot tables, Vlookup and charts)
    • Excellent teamwork - organizing and managing with multiple stake-holders and groups contributing
    • Self-motivated and self-managed - able to think independently, creatively, and opportunistically
    • Overwhelming desire to kick ass and grow in your career
