Sr. Software Engineer, Front End Modernization
We're looking for Front End engineers to join our team that has been specifically tasked with the challenging and exciting project to build the next generation of our flagship product, the web application. As a member of this team, you'll have an opportunity to build from the ground up and ship incrementally. You'll enjoy writing new architecture, structured and logical code, as well as refactoring code when necessary. You'll implement and advocate for performant, intuitive and delightful features and interactions. You'll demonstrate strong end user focus and empathy. You'll enjoy an opportunity to embark on a large, technically challenging project that will have a large impact for our millions of users and will lay the groundwork for many years to come.
Responsibilities
- Creating our next generation web interface using Javascript, CSS, HTML
- Making key technical implementation decisions and helping to guide engineering vision at Box
- Working closely with product management to define user requirements and translating them into reliable,intuitive features
- Evangelizing code quality through writing well architected, structured code, unit tests and practicing good engineering hygiene
- Leading and guiding peers, delegating responsibilities and solving hard technical problems
- Refactoring, optimizing and constantly driving for improved efficiency and code health
Qualifications
- Knowledge of design patterns and experience writing well structured code
- Experience with Javascript frameworks such as jQuery, Angular, Backbone, Require and/or React
- Knowledge of web technologies such as Javascript, CSS, XHTML and basic browser compatibility
- Solid engineering hygiene including focus on quality, documentation and unit testing
- Excited to solve complex problems and build our next generation web application interface from the ground up
- 4-year degree from a top-notch Computer Science or comparable program
- 3+ years of relevant experience
Nice-to-have Skills
- Knowledge of dynamic languages such as PHP, Perl, or Python
- Knowledge of Chrome internals, browser engines
- Knowledge of relational databases and MySQL
