Sr. Software Engineer, Localization
Box is looking to hire an experienced L10N / I18N engineers to join our Web Application engineering team. You will work closely with engineering and localization specialists to to empower users from all over the world to become more productive and more collaborative in the global marketplace by delivering Box products in 30 languages. You will join a small team to build reliable localization and internationalization solutions. You’ll work on a localization platform and frameworks, work with other teams to evangelize localization best practices. Through automation and high quality localization, you’ll leverage all Box products by bringing them to customers around the work in 30 languages.
Responsibilities
- Provide internationalization solutions for various products (web, mobile, sync)
- Provide L10N and I18N guidance and best practices to engineers
- Design and build localization platforms and frameworks and automate processes
- Own and advocate for L10N issues in close collaboration with L10N Manager and L10N vendors
- Lead QA team in international testing and high quality translations
Qualifications
- Passion for cloud technologies
- Passion for understanding a wide range of cultures
- Knowledge of Unicode standards, character encodings and locales
- Knowledge of formats and standards (TMX, Xliff, etc.)
- Experience with translation management tools (TMS, CSV)
- 4-year degree from a top-notch Computer Science or comparable program
- 2+ years of relevant experience
Nice-to-have Skills
- Experience with double-byte
- Experience of working with localization teams and vendors
- Experience in developing full stack web application in Java (Spring, hibernate, AspectJ, Maven, MySql, Tomcat/jetty, MVC, REST Webservice, Javascript, TestNG/JUnit)
- Worked with localization tools and use of open source framework Okapi and knowledge of standards (Xliff, TMX)
- Experience with continuous integration and test driven development
- Speaks a foreign language (preferrably one or more of Japanese, French, German, or Brazilian Portuguese)
- Experience with bidirectional languages
