IT Linux System Engineer
Responsibilities:
- As a member of the Systems Engineering Infrastructure team you will support the deployment and operations of mission critical software used for Falcon 9 and Dragon.
- You will work closely with other SpaceX engineers to develop tools and infrastructure that accelerate and simplify the deployment of software to Linux-based systems used during SpaceX missions.
- You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of the systems you create, from development to testing to operation during a mission.
- You will accept a large degree of personal responsibility, work on awesome stuff and every day be completely baffled as to how you ever worked anywhere else.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in related field
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Expert in Python, Bash and scripting languages
- Experience maintaining continuous integration systems (Jenkins, CruiseControl, etc.)
- Experience with maintaining and supporting software development release environments (Alpha, Beta, Prod)
- Experience deploying and administering Linux systems (Debian package management, Nagios, Apache, iptables, tcpdump)
- Experience developing web applications
- Understanding of developing C/C++ applications and build processes
- Networking experience in IPv4, QOS, switching, routing, firewalls and HA architecture
- Experience with Puppet for configuration management
- Experience operating in a high-reliability / mission-critical / 5-9’s environment is a big plus
- OpenStack experience is a big plus
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel as needed.
- Must be willing to work significant overtime.
