Manufacturing Engineer, Batteries
Responsibilities:
- Maintain production documentation and process, including engineering masters and work orders used by materials requirements planning.
- Drive production process improvements, including robotics and automation, to reduce labor and component cost and maximize quality.
- Plan for lean battery production flow and tooling.
- Maintain battery component designs and documentation during the production phase of product lifetime – including module sub-assemblies, interconnects, enclosures, and battery management electronics.
- Update designs when necessary in response to issues such as manufacturing problems, parts obsolescence and minor requirement changes.
- Work with responsible engineers to optimize test process for quality and schedule.
- Provide input during battery development for product manufacturability and test and help transition design from development to production.
- Create, maintain, and report product schedule and status.
- Manage part and vendor supply chain to ensure a quality product on time.
- Some travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in engineering or science
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in hardware process improvement, hardware production or hardware test experience
- Professional experience with tooling design in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with lithium-ion batteries with knowledge of battery handling, safety and usage.
- Experience with 3D CAD Modeling Software – (examples: NX/Unigraphics, Solidworks, Catia)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Ability to create and deliver presentations for PDR, CDR, Project Update, etc.
- Experience in using and interpreting GD&T.
- Prefer experience using NX/Unigraphics software.
- Ability to identify and analyze production process improvements for rate and quality.
- Hands-on engineer with a passion for continuous improvement and building the best hardware.
- Energy storage assembly and test experience.
- Printed circuit board assembly handling, production, and test experience.
