Propulsion Software Engineer (Combustion Modeling)
Responsibilities:
- This job is for a diehard developer who wants to enable stunning calculations and visualizations with bleeding-edge hardware and algorithms
- The candidate will work with Propulsion Engineers to develop advanced simulation tools used for engine design
- Design and implement complex systems for modeling rocket components, including running combustion device simulations
- Assist in the organization and extraction of useful knowledge from our extensive engine development test data repository
- Own the infrastructure for development of large multi-core and multi-node software applications
Basic Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in Physics, Computer Science, or related field of study
- Experience working with system- and platform-level software on Windows and/or Linux platforms
- Excellent C++ skills (> 5 years of applied experience)
- Working knowledge of CUDA and parallel programming
- Expert-level knowledge of software development practices on both Windows and Linux platforms
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Advanced college degree in Physics, Computer Science, or related field of study
- A background in scientific computing, high-performance computing, or mathematics is a big plus
- A deep understanding of computer, network, and graphics card architecture
- Knowledge of parallel & multi-threaded programming, especially in a distributed computing environment
- Experience with low-level platform & system software development on Linux and Windows
- Up to date on the latest software best practices and compiler optimizations from blogs, books, etc.
- Strong skills with debuggers, profilers, and unit testing
- Experience working in a team on at least one large (>100,000 lines) software project
- Interest in/competence with multiple languages and technologies (Java, C#, Scala, SQL, CUDA)
- Familiarity with Agile software development techniques, particularly Test-Driven Development, and Continuous Integration
