Description
Do you have a strong technical background but are looking for ways to scale your skills and experience across a new team? Can you recognize the patterns that make existing teams great and adapt them for a new team in a new location? If you are on a journey from being an awesome individual contributor to being the creator and leader of an awesome team, then this is the role for you. We are looking for a Senior Team Lead to join the Bitbucket engineering team. You'll spend half your time doing hands-on development work, and the other half building and managing a team of developers from the ground up. This will be a new sub-team for Bitbucket, so you'll have a major role in defining its makeup. It'll also be the first remote sub-team: there are three established teams operating out of San Francisco.You will be leading a fast paced SaaS team of up to 9 developers that works on our hosted DVCS solution used by millions. You'll influence product strategy, features, engineering processes and architecture and you'll be contributing to the broader growth and company culture of Atlassian in Austin. The position is located in our Austin office. You must be eligible to work in the US today. What you'll do Be a leader, molding a creative culture for some of the smartest people in the industry Work with our recruitment team to hire and train a team of 9 developers in our new Austin office Grow and coach your team members Establish team processes and communicate effectively with the rest of the Bitbucket development team located in San Francisco Help us build and scale a service that's used by millions of developers worldwide Keep your developer hat on-- spend 50% of your time hands-on building new features Engage with other leads, developers, designers and product managers Drive innovation by coming up with new and surprising ideas for our products and processes Foster the Atlassian culture and ethic of the team Key skills You are passionate about great software 3+ years of experience in leading a software development team with agile software development methodologies Experience in working with remote / distributed teams A hands-on mentality (happy coding as well as leading) Deep architectural understanding of web applications Superior creative and innovative problem-solving skills You have an unusually effective blend of intelligence, integrity, domain knowledge, communications skills, and diplomacy Broad knowledge of several programming languages, open source, and related technologies, preferably Python or Java Enthusiasm for mentoring junior developers Excitement for the latest trends in application design (e.g. microservice oriented architecture)
