Storage Operations Administrator
Box is looking for a meticulous yet productive individual to join the Technical Operations team to assist in administering our growing production storage system. You will be an integral part of growing our storage system to the multi-PB level, and augmenting the resilience, security, reliability, and performance of this core system for our company. This is an exciting opportunity at a great company, for a highly capable individual interested in scaling out commodity-based storage to Enterprise levels.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate, build, deploy, and manage Linux-based servers with SAS-attached SATA arrays
- Management and monitoring of software side of storage servers, including web servers software and clustered filesystems
- Work with hardware vendors to troubleshoot interoperability issues, and validate new iterations of hardware configurations
- Maintain, operate, and improve scripts and monitoring tools for managing space and migrating files
- Coordinate with network team to ensure storage servers have adequate bandwidth per datacenter
- Monitor and coordinate with datacenter teams replacement of bad disks, and other necessary hardware maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS
- Good knowledge of SAS, SATA, raid, and external JBODs required
- Good knowledge of Linux-specific storage highly preferred (filesystems, block devices, page cache, FUSE, etc)
- Experience with LSI controllers preferred
- Experience with Nginx and Apache HTTP servers preferred
- Familiarity with rsync, scripting languages, and shell scripting
- Basic understanding of HTTP, TCP/IP, routing and switching required
- Strong familiarity with Linux required
- Responsible and meticulous approach to work
- Team player, and good communication skills
- 2+ years experience in a production 24/7 environment required (not necessarily storage specific)
