You'll speed up the Airbnb website for travelers all over the world. People travel on Airbnb from 192 countries. Our users have incredibly different web browsers, devices, and internet connections. In this role you'll optimize our performance infrastructure. You'll also solve for UX, security, and SEO considerations while enhancing website performance.
Projects you'll work on include:
- Optimize our CDN usage and determine an optimal cache granularity and expiration strategy.
- Maintain browser compatibility e.g. Internet Explorer.
- Help us optimize our image compression strategy. Airbnb showcases our listings through our beautiful, rich photos.
- Improve the site to accommodate countries where bandwidth is limited and some third-party services may be unavailable.
- SEO: Partner with our online marketing team to solve for both search index friendliness and performance.
- Evangelize performance awareness and development best practices like progressive enhancement.
