Overnight NOC Engineer
MailChimp is seeking NOC Engineers to join our Ops team. You’ll help build, maintain, and monitor systems that support millions of users across all of our products. We operate in a high-volume environment, handling over 6,000 requests/second and 10,000 new users/day.
Applicants should have outstanding attention to detail, independent troubleshooting skills, and be extremely reliable. We don't expect you to be familiar with the tools we use, but a strong desire to learn is critical.
What you'll do:
- Handle ongoing datacenter setup and support (racking new servers, replacing failed hardware)
- Respond to alerts issued by our monitoring system
- Add or update monitoring as new services are added or requirements change
- Work directly with engineering teams to implement new services
- Maintain a record of problems and the methods used to solve them
- Work overnight to extend our coverage
Helpful if you're familiar with:
- Linux
- Networking and TCP/IP
- Common network services (DHCP, DNS)
- Cisco switches
- HP servers
- Scripting (Python, Bash)
- Monitoring and Alerting
- Datacenter environments with hundreds of servers
