Bitly faces a variety of interesting challenges that are ideally suited for a data scientist to pursue. We see massive amounts of data giving us a fascinating view into what is happening on the internet.
We are adding an additional member to our science team. Our ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or some similar degree program. Graduate work in machine learning, natural language processing, applied statistics of social network analysis is highly desired. Experience with Python and Hadoop is required. Please provide a coding sample (Github username will suffice).
Our scientist needs to be able to communicate their results internally and externally. The applicant should be comfortable writing a quick blog post and a scientifically sound academic paper to describe the work you will be doing. Please submit a current CV of your published work.
We're looking for a scientist full of ideas and passion on how to utilize Bitly data to improve our product and our knowledge about the weird and wonderful internet.
We like Scikit-Learn, MrJob, cheeseburgers, probabilistic data structures, and Bayesian networks. We love itertools in a way in which no person should love itertools. We post way too many animated gifs, and we are too fond of the Doge meme for our own good.
We want to use all this data to do something great. We hope you can help us.
