Avionics EMI Test Technician
Overview:
Our rapid growth has created an opportunity to add Avionics EMI Test Technicians to support Avionics Engineering, Production, and Test Teams to produce, test, and integrate hardware for our Falcon 9 launch vehicle and our Dragon spacecraft.
Under direction of Engineering, Production, and Test, the EMI Test Technician tests avionics hardware in accordance with verbal instructions and written documentation
Responsibilities:
- Perform MIL-STD-1541, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464 testing of avionics components of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle and the Dragon spacecraft.
- Read, interpret and work from free-form drawings as well as from controlled documentation and processes.
- Independently fabricate harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies and test fixtures; soldering skills required. Understand and build circuits.
- Operate a spectrum analyzer, VNA, power meter, high-power amplifier, and oscilloscope.
- Perform antenna measurements.
- Operate LabView and TILE; programming experience a plus.
- Independently perform verifications and document results in a clear, precise and complete manner.
- Troubleshoot independently with minimum direction
- Follow written Test Procedures and Quality best practices
- Support engineers and Test Management with confidence.
- Use computer to record work performed on shop floor management system (ERP) as well as use email (MS Outlook).
- Think creatively; question the status quo, while following documentation and maintaining prescribed quality standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience performing MIL-STD-1541, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464 testing of avionics components
- Demonstrated experience fabricating harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Demonstrated soldering, circuit building and test fixture developing skills.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to read, interpret and follow:
- Schematics, engineering drawings, circuit layouts, and parts lists.
- Cable Harnesses: wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and parts lists.
- Mechanical Assemblies: mechanical drawings and parts lists.
- Experience preferred in fast-paced test environment with flight hardware
- Able to adapt to constantly changing work assignments and fast paced work environment.
- Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering and Production.
- Associates Degree required. An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education is acceptable.
- Proficient with computers
- Ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs.
- Able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed

Additional Requirements:
Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position. Ability to lift 50-60 lbs is required. Ability to distinguish colors and pass a vision test: 20-50 far vision, 20-20 near vision, is required.
