Director of Talent Development
Box's People Team is looking for an unbelievably great Director of Talent Development with exceptional people and organizational development expertise to drive foundational initiatives and innovative projects for our Boxers. Responsibilities fall into two main areas of ownership: Learning and Leadership Development and Talent Management. This role reports directly to Box's SVP, People (Chief People Officer). Learning and Leadership Development - this person will own the L&D function at Box (with the exception of sales training), and be responsible for all of our activities and programs that develop Boxers into better people, managers and leaders at all levels. This includes the design and facilitation of programs, presentation of material, vendor management, partnering with internal subject matter experts and management of company-wide Boxer learning and leadership development. Talent Management - this person will own the twice yearly organization and talent reviews, talent assessments, the executive promotion process and mid-year and year end performance reviews. Since we want our Boxers to develop amazing careers, this role also supports our development plans, internal mobility initiatives, coaching and mentorship activities.
Responsibilities
- Thought Leadership: Partner with the leadership team to identify and drive a comprehensive organizational development and learning strategy for our company and our employees;
- Program Development: Design highly innovative solutions for: talent assessment, development and retention; career paths and succession planning; organizational design/development; employee engagement. Design and deliver strategy for these programs and execute against plan;
- Evaluation: Design robust evaluation strategies for measuring the results and impact of said initiatives;
- Reporting: Prepare and present Talent Development metrics reports that assess and measure impact and ROI of TD initiatives & programs;
- Monitoring Needs: Conduct on-going needs assessment, recommend & develop targeted solutions to gaps in learning and leadership development offerings for the business and work closely with People Partners and business leaders to execute;
- Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that development activities are aligned with specific business priorities and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree and 10 years of HR and/or Talent Development experience (advanced degree in related field strongly preferred).
- Experience creating and implementing talent development programs and customized learning and development experiences, and related activities, at best-in-class companies (ideally in the technology industry). Specifically: Significant hands-on instructional and organizational design and program development experience, one-on-one coaching experience with managers and leaders, training program development and facilitation
- Strong analytical skills – the ability to demonstrate impact and efficacy of Talent Development interventions on the business.
- Ability to influence globally, manage large teams, and enlist and inspire Boxers to be part of cross-org projects and initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with drive, energy and a passion for development of people and the business.
- History of strong partnering and collaboration across teams and organizational boundaries, can get things done in a matrixed environment.
- Proven ability to lead in similarly fast-paced and constantly changing environments.
- World-class client management and customer satisfaction skills.
- Strong group process and leadership development facilitation skills.
- Practical knowledge of educational theory, cutting-edge learning modalities, and other developmental paradigms.
- Passion for cloud technologies
