Software Engineering Intern - Summer 2015
As a Software Engineering Intern at Box, you’ll be part of a tight knit group of engineers who have the same passion for building real solutions as you. You will learn how to build and ship code, and gain better understanding of the full development cycle. Interns are researchers and developers who have a passion for building solutions. They have a solid foundation in Computer Science and know how to apply what they have learned. Their deep understanding of algorithms and data structures allows them to solve the most challenging and technical problems. Interns are encouraged and empowered to drive their own development projects—ask questions, design solutions, and own the results. They are expected to bring their ideas to the table and to participate in our architectural debate. During your 12 week internship, you will work as a full-time member on a small team within the larger engineering organization. In addition to participating as a regular member of the team, you will work with a mentor and manager to design your own project and implement the solution.
Examples of Previous Intern Projects
- Device Pinner API which allows Box admins to get information on a device pinner, delete a device pinner, or get all the device pinners in an enterprise.
- A new list feature on Box Notes to allow users to create checklists. Users can now collaborate to make to-do lists and finish tasks on the go with the convenience of Notes.
- Adding triggers for "File Move" and "File Copy" in automation and policies. Admins can set up different automations and policies triggered by different actions by the enterprise users. This helps admins assign tasks or initiate file moves automatically on these events.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or other related technical field
- Expected to graduate in either Winter of 2015 or Spring of 2016
- Passion for software development and a determination to make a difference
Nice-to-have Skills
- Outstanding code quality in one of the following languages (Javascript, PHP, Python, Scala, C/C++)
- Working knowledge of CSS, HTML, Mobile technologies
- Experience with software design patterns and knowledge of algorithms
- Knowledge of Linux commands and general computing concepts Mac/Windows
