Buyer, Avionics
 
Responsibilities:

  • Liaise between the SpaceX engineering team and suppliers to ensure 100% conformance to all technical and delivery aspects of outsourced work
  • Review technical packages including models, drawings and scopes of work prior to release to suppliers for manufacturability and correctness
  • Prepare, issue, manage and analyze RFx packages
  • Match technical requirements of outsourced packages to best fit supplier capability during the bid cycle, assisting as required with technical support during negotiations
  • Resolve technical questions from suppliers by working with SpaceX engineering teams
  • Act as project manager for critical or high risk offloaded packages
  • Offer technical solutions, process changes or material substitutions to improve product quality and supplier on time delivery
  • Utilize preventive/corrective action process to drive continual improvement of the supply chain
  • Initiate or support supplier add/exit plans as required by evaluating internal requirements against the external supplier base
  • Manage overall supplier relationships including selection, day-to-day communications, issue resolution and periodic business reviews

 
Basic Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of procurement experience
  • Experience with drawing interpretation and design for manufacturability on machined components

 
Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills
  • Remarkable problem solving skills
  • Able to prioritize appropriately to meet internal customer and company needs
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills, with strong ability to communicate to all levels of internal personnel
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
  • Able to conduct all activities with the highest of integrity
  • Lean or Six Sigma trained
  • Strong technical writing skills, ability to communicate effectively with management and departments, and fundamental problem solving skills
  • Able to work independently with a strong work ethic, be innovative, detail oriented, possess initiative, be positive, and be people oriented
  • Proficient with Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Demonstrated comfort with personal computers and willingness to learn specific software applications

 
Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work significant overtime.
