Metrology Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop and support detailed inspection plans for machined parts and small assemblies, utilizing specifications, procedures to develop sampling plans and reduced inspections based on part key characteristics, critical items and SPC.
- Lead, develop and support AS9102 first article inspection process for outside manufacturing and internal machine parts. Includes development and continual improvement of the process i.e. creating, updating, monitoring, and maintaining the “First Article Inspection Reports” (FAIR) preparation and file management for all parts including the suppliers.
- Act as specialist in ‘applied metrology’ and provide support to manufacturing and design areas in development of appropriate measurement methods, including researching and recommending new technologies, analyzing existing measurement methods, and training as required.
- Coordinate and resolve Quality issues at receiving.
- Facilitating and improving communication and receiving process issues with vendors for efficient work flow in the Receiving Inspection area. Work closely with inspectors, buyers, planners and vendors to minimize all related issues by implementing a procedure with a preventative approach.
- Introduce a range of various 3D inspection methods, process, and software to the Propulsion, Structure and product engineers for the improvement of throughput and accuracy for the inspection process; from small components to large components such as turbine blade, castings, skin, thrust structure and dome inspection by the use of blue light or lasers
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of experience working in an engineering capacity.
- 1+ years of experience working with Metrology and Metrology methods.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master's Degree in an Engineering field
- Excellent communication ability
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
- Ability to meet tight deadlines with limited resources
