Manufacturing Engineer (F9)
 
Responsibilities:

  • Create new processes that cut processing time by using Lean tools like swim lane charts, work balance boards, and string diagrams.
  • Remove waste from the processes and deliver desired output quality and rate.
  • Cross-functional coordination between engineering and production disciplines to refine build and test sequences
  • Develop and execute a strategy to remove a hold when a material delivery, non-conformance or other issue halts production
  • Develop unique rework activities in the event of failure and coordinate with design engineering in order to implement, write and approve dispositions
  • Support line trials for engineering changes through existing processes
  • Ensure Engineering Change Orders are properly and effectively completed on flight hardware
  • Influence design engineering with regard to design for manufacturing and test
  • Simplify production processes and reduce Hours Per Vehicle
  • Develop in-process testing for Production, to validate output of production processes
  • Create accurate process documentation, Process Master planning, procedures, specifications, ergonomic assessments, hazardous material evaluations, layouts
  • Interact with shop personnel (Tech/BE/RE/Production Specialist) to ensure work instructions are accurate and comprehensible.
  • Support and implement solutions for safety / environmental / ergonomic related incidents
  • Identify all critical maintenance schedules/components for new machinery to ensure a robust Preventative Maintenance plan with Maintenance
  • Create business evaluations for ‘make vs buy’ investment decisions
  • Responsible for development, design and procurement of new equipment/technologies

 
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in a hands-on manufacturing environment, internship time counts

 
Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Masters degree in an Engineering discipline preferred
  • Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Kanban and/or Process Improvement experience strongly preferred
  • Root Cause Analysis experience preferred
  • Statistical Process Control experience preferred

 
Additional Requirements:

  • This is a hands-on position that requires one to be on their feet for up to 4+ hours a day. Will sometimes be working directly with the hardware on the floor and will have to be comfortable stooping, bending, standing and at times will be in tight areas with limited room.
