Senior Translator (Multiple language pairs) - Gengo - Job Board

Gengo is a Tokyo- and San Mateo-based startup making translation simple and removing the language barrier for customers as they go global. Customers order human translation online through our website or our API that lets you plug into our growing network of over 9,000 translators.

This is a rare chance to work with a translation company that is serious about technology and seeks to make it easier for the world to communicate freely.

Gengo Senior Translators are professional translators who work remotely to oversee testing and quality assurance in their language pair. Senior Translators are independent contractors who work, on average, 2 to 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Translator Testing - Create translator tests that meet our content requirements and review test submissions
  • Quality Assurance - Conduct periodic quality reviews using our proprietary qualtiy assurance mechanism
  • Performance Reviews - Assessing translator performance and providing constructive feedback
  • Translation Turnaround - Helping ensure timely turnaround of translation jobs in a language pair 
  • Resource Creation - Assisting with creating language-specific translator resources

Requirements:

  • Professional translator with at least 5 years of experience or an excellent track record with Gengo
  • Comfortable with technology and able to to quickly master new tools
  • Attentive to detail, able to follow instructions and change direction quickly, when needed
  • Excellent communication and social skills (particularly in an online context)
  • Punctual, reliable, confident, positive, proactive and organized
  • Fluent in English, in addition to working languages

Bonus skills:

  • Experience assessing skills and providing written feedback
  • Experience creating learning materials
  • Previous experience as a Gengo translator
