Description

We are looking for a unique Senior Engineering Manager who wants the responsibility of defining, leading and executing the technical strategy for the JIRA Family, with over 25,000 customers, 10 million users, and over $100M in annual revenue. You'll shape the architecture, team structure, product strategy, engineering processes, and you'll be contributing to the broader growth and company culture of Atlassian - we want you to be part of the team, not just another employee. 

This job is for you if you've grown a team globally across multiple continents, know how to spot a 10x team from 100 meters out, and have scaled a platform with both people and by driving a strong technical long term vision. But also sweat the details and are passionate for building products.

This role is challenging, ever-changing, rewarding, and vital for our company strategy.  You will need genuine technical management abilities and sublime people management skills.  Your most important function is to inspire your teams to build better products.  You'll do this by combining your charming and pragmatic personality with your constant drive to understand, question and improve development tools and processes.  Your super-human levels of innovation and persistence will ensure you get high quality, lust-worthy software releases out the door and lead your team to dizzying new peaks of performance. 

Special Attributes we are looking for:

  • Not a corporate tool
  • Can be hands on with the most junior developer on the team but can mentor the senior development managers
  • Has experience managing products which act as platforms (i.e. allowing others to build features/code/products on top of their work), either internally or externally (designing and thinking about extensibility)
  • Has experience in both cloud and server product delivery
  • Understand many many releases over long periods of time, and has experience nurturing and innovating with products which have a long history.
  • Must simultaneously encourage sustaining activities as well as innovation
  • Has been successful in environments with a broad variety of constraints.
