Senior Software Engineer - Performance/Scalability

It ain't easy running a web app with over 60 million users, but we do it anyway. We're a lean team of engineers that operates one of the largest RoR applications, uses agile methodologies and relies on data to test and iterate quickly.
YOU ARE
- A curious and ambitious engineer that has a knack for taming traffic and scaling applications
- A great problem finder and solver, who loves to work at scale
- A RoR guru who understands the shortcomings of the Rails framework
- Opinionated on gem costliness/efficacy
YOU WILL
- Work closely with DevOps and Rails Engineers to establish performance pain points
- Profile and optimize app start-up time
- Create a performance test suite which can track the run-time of common controller actions
- Profile and optimize GC usage/object creation/memory leaks
- Mentor team on scalability best practices
YOU HAVE
- Previous experience at scale with high-availability, consumer-facing Rails applications
- Previous experience with testing, patching, and incorporating RoR fixes/updates
- Created benchmarking systems to target performance and optimization issues
- Pro-active security awareness and implementation experience
