About the role
The Sales Manager leads our San Mateo Sales team. This team brings in new enterprise customers and channel partners in the US and EU, and builds these relationships over the long term. The role requires an experienced team leader who can motivate while managing a process and scale it. This is not a role for a “lone-wolf” individual contributor.
At Gengo our team uses Aaron Ross’s “Predictable Revenue” model to generate new leads in collaboration with Marketing. The Sales Manager will follow this process reliably, with an instinct for tracking KPIs, while giving their team the motivation to perform at an extremely high level. It’s a mixture of methodology and charisma. As an inspiring team leader, you must also be an able salesperson, able to step in and help close the larger deals that Account Executives are working. Success in this role means helping the whole team succeed, total understanding of KPIs, and fluent communication with management.
Responsibilities:
- Building a stellar Sales team through great recruiting, training and mentorship
- Continual understanding of our pipeline and funnel, reporting KPIs and qualitative data to management, with a view to both short-term and long-term improvement
- Setting achievable but aggressive individual and team goals with Gengo management, and motivating the team to achieve these goals
- Building sales strategy to achieve high growth in collaboration with management
- Closing high-profile deals, and stepping in to assist Customer Success Managers with high-value relationships in times of need
- Being the voice of the customer, communicating with our Product and Crowd Operations teams to improve our service and ensure Sales is understood within Gengo
- Budgeting and forecasting for the team
Requirements
- 5+ years in sales in a SaaS, online advertising or other online services business
- 3+ years in a Sales Management role, building strong teams and exceeding quota
- Experience implementing a methodical lead-generation process that achieved results
- Experience working with channel partner relationships
- Strong references from former employers and partners
- 5+ years experience using a CRM reliably, feels very at home online, on computer
- Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with web technology
- An international attitude –excited to help customers go global, happy on videoconf
- Excitement about a small startup (our US team is 12 people, with 50 total at Gengo)
- Experience in the translation industry, or a 2nd language, is a bonus but not required
