Editorial Associate
Artsy seeks an editorial associate to join the editorial team. Within our company’s mission to make art accessible to anyone with an internet connection, the editorial team’s aim is to tell the stories around art and art-making—producing exciting, engaging, and educational context and dialogue around artists and artworks on the site. We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to help us achieve this goal.
Your primary responsibilities will include conceptualizing and assigning stories, content and line editing, proofreading, and liaising with gallery liaisons and gallery partners; there will also be an opportunity to write. Life at Artsy embodies the unique combination of Art + Science, and you will collaborate across the Arts, Communications, Product, Digital Marketing, Social Media, and Operations teams.
You should be meticulously organized; skilled with time management; obsessed with meeting deadlines; confident overseeing many of projects simultaneously; have experience working with freelance writers; and get a thrill out of working in a fast-paced environment. You are a strategic thinker, experienced line editor and copyeditor, a confident and thoughtful writer, and you’re on the pulse of news, current discourse, and the who’s who of contemporary art. You have a passion for art and you’re equally obsessed with producing high-quality content. You’re flexible and embrace opportunities for growth; and you work well both independently and within a close-knit team. Your friends would describe you as “in the know,” “proactive,” “passionate,” “driven,” and “humble.”
The ideal candidate will a degree in Art History and/or English. You should have 2+ years experience working in an editorial position, either in an internship or full-time position, and preferably with a focus on art.
