About the job:

  • Twilio is rapidly growing and we need an Instructional Designer to help us continue on that trajectory. You’ll help shape and perfect the company’s approach to sales enablement.
  • You will be responsible for the creation and management of the sales enablement content and training. This includes designing, developing, launching, managing, and improving all the training and documentation needed to make sales teams wildly successful and productive.
  • You will move easily between business goals, planning and execution, have an entrepreneurial approach to getting things done, and work effectively with sales and marketing teams to develop simple, high quality, and scalable training programs, content and tools. You will apply industry best practices where appropriate, but also be fearless in breaking new ground and delivering innovative training programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify the skills, knowledge, information and attitude gaps of a targeted audiences and create documentation and training programs that close those gaps, based on instructional theory and best practices.
  • For each training initiative, conduct needs analysis, develop objectives and ensure training matches those objectives; identify the best training modailty to meet immediate needs, with an eye for long term reusability and scalability; structure content and activities for student learning; develop and manage training content; create media and/or use Twilio capabilities to support learning; develop assessments; and evaluate training effectiveness and opportunities for improvement.
  • Create and manage documentation targeted to sales audiences - ensure content is findable, usable, up to date and accurate.
  • Define, (re)launch and manage internal sales communities or groups to ensure adoption and value; curate user generated content; support collaboration; ensure questions are routed and addressed in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Skills and attributes
    • Demonstrated familiarity with instructional design, courseware development and adult learning principles.
    • Ability to understand and communicate concepts quickly and accurately.
    • Accomplished presentation skills, including development and delivery.
    • Desire to continuously learn new features of development tools and software.
    • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to work well as an individual and within a team.
    • Self-motivated, with a high degree of autonomy, energy, flexibility and the drive to create and develop compelling sales training and enablement programs.
  • Experience and education           
    • 3+ years of instructional design and/or technical writing experience.
    • Highly knowledgeable about systems related to sales enablement, learning management and online learning.
    • Training and documentation experience at a Platform as a Service (PaaS) or API company a plus.
    • Familiarity with Restful Web Services and/or telecommunications a plus.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
