About the job:
- We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join Twilio's Web team.
- This is a senior role focused on creating the next generation of web interfaces that enable our customers to successfully build and operate communications applications leveraging Twilio’s Platform.
- Twilio believes in small teams empowered to deploy and operate their services in production. This team moves quickly, deploying to customers multiple times a week.
- Successful candidates will be strong full-stack developers with experience creating user-facing features, maintaining large code bases, and engineering features with high scalability, security, and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Own, operate, and optimize Twilio’s web interface in production as well as a host of supporting back end services.
- Drive projects from inception to deployment to production.
- Write quality, maintainable code in PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript in a fast-paced professional software engineering environment.
Requirements:
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years in industry as a developer working with public user-facing systems.
- Strong background with object modeling and object oriented programming.
- Experience with traditional RDBMS databases, such as MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, etc.
Bonus points:
- You know the difference between an Abstract Base Class and an Interface, and when to use them.
- You have tuned an interface based off of customer feedback and empirical data.
- You have used pseudo-selectors, deferreds, and delegates in jQuery.
- You have spent 4 hours figuring out what 4 characters are causing a bug and kind of liked it.
- You have worked in both a monolithic and heavily service oriented architecture and understand the benefits of each.
